“Their unwavering belief in their community will make this old steel mill shine again.”

William Chin, Chief Strategy Officer, Minth Group · Made in Alabama, March 2026 ↗

Minth is putting $430 million and 1,300+ jobs into the old Gulf States Steel site.

Minth Moves Gadsden is how the folks who live around that site, and the people who'll work there, feel that investment every single week. Not on a sign. At a Tuesday morning class, a Wednesday walk, a Saturday finish line.

Built on Minth's own wellness goals

Minth already commits to “Physical, Mental and Spiritual Wellness” and a “Family Based Culture – Balance between Work and Life” for its employees. Minth Moves Gadsden turns that into something local your team can actually show up to: free classes that fit around shifts, coworker walking groups, and family days, open to employees and their families.

01 · The plan

Here's who wins.

One program, three groups of people who get something real out of it.

Gadsden residents

Free classes and walks every week, so cost isn't what keeps people home. Beginner-friendly, morning and evening, with family days mixed in.

  • Morning and evening class times
  • Walks at a beginner pace
  • At-home workout videos for busy weeks

Minth's team and their families

Your people get to show up next to their neighbors. Coworker walking groups, relay teams at the big days, and family events they'll actually want to bring the kids to.

  • Always voluntary, never tracked one by one
  • A Minth liaison helps us pick times that fit shifts
  • Family invites to every big day

Minth Group

A name people connect with something good in their week, not just a building off the highway. Plus real numbers on who showed up and what it did.

  • Founding presenting partner for 12 months
  • Name on shirts, banners, the app, and event coverage
  • Quarterly reports and a year-end recap video

02 · The year

Something every week. Something big every season.

The weekly stuff keeps people coming back. The big days give them something to circle on the calendar.

03 · The big days

The days people will talk about.

Each one is built so a first-timer feels welcome and a regular still gets a challenge.

04 · The app

Find a class. Tap to join. Done.

This is how residents and Minth families actually take part. Everything lives in one app, Move Gadsden™: find a class, sign up in a tap, and keep moving between the big days. Scroll inside the phone and try it.

Our experience

CSF's leadership brings more than 30 years of combined experience running structured, community-based programs. That includes building governance, coordinating facilities, overseeing programs, meeting insurance and compliance requirements, and keeping schedules people can count on. It's the practical know-how it takes to build programs people keep coming back to.

What we run today

GadsdenG-League

10 adult teams

MontgomeryGump City Basketball League

6 adult teams

Gadsden · YouthJunior G-League

Youth basketball

Montgomery · YouthGump City Juniors

3v3 for 12U and 14U

  • ~150 players with stats, profiles, and standings tracked all season
  • Live games streamed on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch
  • NBA anchored: the platform features NBA veteran JaMychal Green

Scheduling, registration, rosters, officials, live production, and family communication are already part of how we operate every week. Minth Moves Gadsden applies that same playbook to community fitness.

Minth Group

Founding investment, presenting partner, and one liaison to help reach employees.

City of Gadsden

Access to city spaces, local approvals, and planning help for the big days.

CSF

A dedicated program coordinator, qualified instructors, registration, the app, purchasing, and quarterly reports.

06 · The budget

$150,000. Here's where every dollar goes.

The biggest slice goes straight into classes, events, and gear. The City covers access to its spaces, so none of this pays rent on public facilities.

41%goes straight into programming: instructors, events, equipment, and help with fees
~$45per spot. That's about 3,300 class, walk, and event spots across the year
Total$150,000

07 · Keeping score

You'll always know how it's going.

300+different people at in-person activities, at least 150 of them adults
Every quartera report on attendance, spending, feedback, and what's next
Month 9we sit down together and look at year two

Let's talk

Let's make year one something Gadsden remembers.

We'd love to sit down with Minth's local leadership and whoever handles wellness or community giving. Bring questions. We'll bring the plan.

The fine printAssumptions, terms, and sources

What's still being finalized

  • This is a proposal. It isn't a signed City commitment or a Minth award, and no City or Minth logo endorsement is implied.
  • The budget assumes the City provides access to its spaces at no cash cost. The City's contribution would be tracked separately.
  • Class counts, capacities (about 20 per class or walk), schedules, and event details are planned numbers. Dates, routes, operators, and vendors get locked in after pricing and approvals.
  • Budget lines are planning numbers, not accepted vendor quotes. Video licensing and provider prices are still being priced.
  • The Gadsden Athletic Center is projected to open in fall 2027 ↗. The Gadsden Grind™ lands in February, so it would be held at The Venue or 210 at the Tracks.
  • The Coosa Challenge is designed and run by a qualified water and cycling specialist. If it doesn't pencil out, a supervised river recreation day can replace it, with Minth's okay.
  • Move Gadsden™ is built and owned by CSF on its Move™ platform, so the same app can launch in other cities. Minth Group's name stays on Minth Moves Gadsden programming.
  • Move™, Move Gadsden™, and The Gadsden Grind™ are trademarks of Competitive Sports Foundation.
  • The app shown here is a working concept. The app budget assumes CSF builds it in-house; extra development would need a budget revision.

How we handle the money and people

  • About eight weeks are set aside for startup and holidays, leaving 44 active weeks.
  • Weekly classes serve adults 18+. Walks and family days welcome kids with a parent or guardian. Weekly activities and videos are free.
  • Insurance, instructor qualifications, screening where needed, and emergency plans are finalized before launch.
  • CSF may collect event sponsorships, vendor booth fees, and participant fees. City taxes, permits, and concessions stay with the City. Terms get written down.
  • Contingency covers unplanned costs. Budget changes and any leftover funds follow the sponsor agreement. CSF may ask to keep unused funds for future community programs; that's not automatic.
  • Related-party contracts or overlapping roles get disclosed, independently reviewed, and approved in writing.
  • Employee participation is always voluntary. Reports are aggregate only. Stories, photos, and video of people need their permission.
  • No health outcome, hiring result, or financial return is guaranteed.
